Important — before ordering your credit report
Browser setup required
Before ordering your credit report, please make sure your device and browser are properly configured. Incorrect browser settings may prevent the credit-report ordering system from opening and result in an error message.
For the best experience, we recommend using Google Chrome on a desktop computer, laptop computer, or tablet.
Before you begin
- Use Google Chrome as your internet browser.
- In Chrome settings, make sure Pop-ups and Redirects are allowed for the credit-ordering website. The system may need to open a new window or redirect you to a secure website to complete the process.
- We recommend a desktop computer, laptop computer, or tablet rather than a mobile phone.
- After adjusting your browser settings, refresh the ordering page before proceeding with your credit-report order.
Failure to use a compatible browser or allow the required pop-ups and redirects may prevent the system from opening correctly. Verify these settings before clicking the order link.
Important information before ordering your credit report
Notification to borrowers
Mortgage credit inquiries have historically generated “trigger leads,” which could result in unsolicited calls, emails, and text messages from companies a borrower had not contacted.
The Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act (H.R. 2808; Public Law 119-36), effective March 4, 2026, restricts credit reporting agencies from furnishing consumer reports based on mortgage inquiries for prescreened offers, subject to exceptions.
What this means for you
- The law limits mortgage trigger-lead sharing; it does not guarantee that all unsolicited contacts will stop.
- Permitted sharing must relate to a firm offer of credit or insurance and meet the law’s conditions.
- Exceptions include your authorization and certain existing relationships, such as your current mortgage originator or servicer, or a bank or credit union holding your account.
Additional privacy choices
- Visit OptOutPrescreen.com or call 1-888-567-8688 to opt out of prescreened credit and insurance offers.
- Register your number at DoNotCall.gov to limit telemarketing calls.
- A security freeze is another privacy tool, but it can prevent access to your credit file. If you have a freeze, arrange for it to be lifted before ordering.
At Standard Mortgage, we believe in a transparent, borrower-first process. We access your credit report with your authorization for evaluating your mortgage application and financing options.
Standard Mortgage does not sell your information to any third party for marketing purposes.

Before you move forward
Tell us whether either of these situations applies to you. Your answers will be included in the instructions emailed with your order link.
Confirm that disputes and dispute comments have been removed wherever they appear across Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, and that all three credit files are unfrozen. Ordering before these issues are resolved may cause delays and additional costs if another report is required.
Resolve disputes before ordering
You may continue through this guide and receive your link. Do not place the credit order until you have addressed the disputes with your loan officer and confirmed the required updates.
- Contact your loan officer about the disputes or dispute comments. If they involve inaccurate information or identity theft, discuss how to proceed before requesting changes.
- Contact all three credit bureaus and request removal of applicable disputes and dispute comments as directed.
- Wait at least 72 hours after requesting removal, then contact the bureaus again to confirm the updates. This waiting period is a preparation instruction, not a guarantee that the bureaus have completed them.
- Verify the disputes and comments are removed wherever they appear before ordering.
Avoid paying for a second report: If you order while disputes remain, another report may be required afterward at an additional cost.
Lift credit freezes before ordering
You may continue through this guide and receive your link. Do not place the credit order until you confirm all three credit files can be accessed.
- Contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion and arrange to lift each freeze.
- Allow at least one hour for telephone or online lift requests, then verify access with each bureau. Requests by mail may take longer.
- Confirm all three credit files are unfrozen before ordering.
If a bureau remains frozen, the report may be incomplete or unable to process. Another report may be needed after the freeze is lifted, with possible additional cost.
Keep your files accessible during the loan process
Coordinate the duration of the lift with your loan officer. Credit may need to be accessed, updated, refreshed, or verified before the mortgage process is complete. Reapplying a freeze too soon could cause delays or additional expense.
